Stepping out of the cloud forest towards the open view at World’s End.
Horton Plains feels unlike the rest of the hill country. Open grassland gives way to cloud forest on this high plateau, where a walking circuit leads towards the dramatic edge of World’s End and the wooded setting of Baker’s Falls.
The route combines a memorable railway approach with a jeep transfer and a substantial walk. Start early for the best chance of clear views; mist can change the scene quickly and is part of the highland atmosphere.

Transfer to Bandarawela or Haputale station for the scenic train ride to Pattipola.

Continue by safari jeep to Horton Plains National Park.

Walk the main circuit to World’s End and Baker’s Falls; allow around 3–4 hours on the trail.

Drive back through the reserve via Ohiya and past Diyatalawa on the way to the hotel.
